About Us :
Friends of St Mary’s
Supporting Our Church. Preserving Our Heritage. Bringing Our Community Together.
The Friends of St Mary’s is a non-denominational charity dedicated to preserving St Mary’s Church as part of Kintbury’s shared heritage.
You don’t need to be a churchgoer to get involved. We warmly invite everyone in the wider Kintbury community to join us in ensuring the church building can continue to host a variety of events for many years to come.
What We Do
The Friends contribute a substantial part of the cost of maintaining the church building.
Recent projects include:
New roofing
Electrical system upgrades
A new sound system
Interior decoration and improvements
How We Raise Funds
Our work is supported through:
Regular donations from Friends
(no amount is too small)
Fund-raising events held throughout the year
Community Events
Our events not only raise funds – they bring Kintbury together.
Recent highlights include:
Plays
Bridge drives
Call My Bluff Wine Evenings
Our ever-popular December Literary Evening
Open Garden Afternoons
Antiques Afternoons
In recent years we have welcomed distinguished guests such as: Sir Max Hastings, Sebastian Faulks, Jeremy Paxman and Hayley Mills who are all invited by and in conversation with Robert Harris or Gill Hornby.
Get Involved
The charity is run entirely by a committee of volunteers, and we are always delighted to hear new ideas for fundraising from the Kintbury community.
